Identifying COVID-19 Vaccine Concerns to Boost Vaccination Rates

The Challenge:

In 2021, evolve24 was asked to assist a major U.S. health IT company in conducting a large-scale sentiment analysis project to gauge public perceptions regarding the distribution of COVID-19 vaccinations, and public confidence with the vaccine’s key U.S. manufacturers, including Pfizer, BioNTech, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, and Astra Zeneca.

Solution:

Using our platform, the U.S. IT company analyzed public data sources before, during, and after each manufacturer’s vaccination campaign to illustrate how the consumer perceptions of each company trended over time. The project enabled the U.S. IT company to identify consumer concerns related to the vaccinations and the impact these concerns could have on each of the manufacturers. Our platform was also used to assess and estimate the vaccination rates among U.S. citizens within respective states.

Impact:

By looking at how various metrics (emotion, reputation, and volume) aligned, evolve24’s platform delivered near real-time insights on consumer interest and skepticism relating to the COVID-19 vaccination process. Further, evolve24 was credited with helping to identify emerging consumer concerns regarding the vaccine’s safety that went beyond what was being reported in the Food and Drug Administration’s Adverse Event Reporting System. The findings were shared with the Food and Drug Administration, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and the Department of Health and Human Services and used to improve the vaccination process, counter false information, and improve the messaging used in U.S. vaccination marketing campaigns.
